Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss Gets Heisman Support From Rival SEC Coach

On Saturday, Florida defeated Ole Miss in a 52-28 college football game. Despite both teams entering the match undefeated and considered among the SEC's top contenders, Florida's performance was overwhelmingly dominant, leaving Ole Miss with a significant loss. This result could raise doubts about Ole Miss's consistency for the upcoming College Football Playoff.

However, it cannot be denied that the standout player, Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, is highly regarded in the sport. Florida's head coach, Jon Sumrall, expressed his support for Chambliss, stating that if he were to cast a Heisman Trophy vote, Chambliss would be his top choice. Chambliss made a significant impact in his first season with the Rebels, following a transfer from the Division II Ferris State University.

In 2020, he threw for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns, intercepted the ball three times, and rushed for 527 yards and eight touchdowns. He also completed 66.1% of his passes and was recognized as second-team All-SEC and SEC Newcomer of the Year. This season, Chambliss has once again proven his prowess, leading the team with 1,222 passing yards, eight touchdowns, three interceptions, 108 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns.

With a 70.8% completion rate, Chambliss is quickly gaining momentum to be considered for the prestigious Heisman Trophy and to become one of the top quarterbacks available in the 2027 NFL Draft. While no Ole Miss player has ever won the Heisman Trophy, Chambliss could potentially change that narrative.
