Negri Sembilan crisis: Police to record statements from former state excos tomorrow

Negri Sembilan's police force will begin recording statements from 10 former state executive councillors starting tomorrow, in relation to the ongoing constitutional crisis within the state. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that all 10 former councillors will have their accounts recorded, aiming to aid police investigations based on prior reports.

Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) filed a police report on September 21, calling for an investigation against Negri Sembilan's Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim and the former state executive councillors. Putra's secretary-general, Nasrul Ali Hasan Abdul Latif, stated that the party believes the state administration's actions should be scrutinized under Section 121 of the Penal Code.

Following a dispute over customary matters, the appointments of the 10 state executive councillors were annulled under provisions outlined in the state constitution. Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar earlier reported that the gazette revoking the appointments was granted with the consent of Negri Sembilan's Yang di-Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, and took effect on September 20, as mandated by Article 38(5) of the Negri Sembilan Constitution 1959.
