Negeri Sembilan police say hostel tragedy linked to Form Four student ‘punishing’ junior for breaking rules

PETALING JAYA, Sept 27 — Negeri Sembilan police have stated that the death of a Form Two student at a Kuala Pilah school appears to be connected to the victim's alleged violation of school regulations. Following this, the suspected perpetrator, a Form Four student, has been held in custody for six days as of Saturday to aid the ongoing investigation, according to Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, the chief of the Negeri Sembilan police.

The suspect is said to have chastised and "punished" the younger student over the breach in question.

At present, only the Form Four student has been detained to assist with the probe, as reported by Astro Awani. The student was discovered unconscious at the school hostel on Friday night and was transported to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah, where he was pronounced dead. The Education Ministry has ordered an immediate examination of the school following the incident and pledged full cooperation with the police.
