NDDC urges Niger Delta communities to protect public infrastructure

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has urged communities in the Niger Delta region to take responsibility for safeguarding public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, electricity facilities, water projects, schools, health centres and other development projects. NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, emphasized that communities must be vigilant in protecting these assets, as destroying infrastructure harms both the community and the nation.

Ogbuku stated that funds intended for new projects are often diverted to repair damaged infrastructure, thereby limiting progress. He stated, "Security is an important factor in society. Development strengthens security and security protects development." He further advised community leaders to view development in their area as their own property, and to educate citizens about the importance of protecting government projects from vandalism and theft.
