Mumbai MACT Awards ₹2.46 Crore To Family Of Man Who Died After 2018 Vikhroli Road Accident

On September 23, 2026, the Mumbai Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) awarded ₹2.46 crore to the family of Sachin Narayan Revankar, a 39-year-old man who died in 2019 from injuries sustained in a road accident near Vikhroli in January 2018. The decision came in a claim filed by Revankar's widow, Harshala Revankar, their minor son and their mother.

According to the claim, Revankar was a pillion rider on a motorcycle when a car allegedly driven negligently collided with it on the Eastern Express Highway near Vikhroli on January 19, 2018. He suffered severe head injuries and was treated at Fortis Hospital and H.J. Doshi Hindu Sabha Hospital. He remained bedridden and passed away on July 12, 2019, while receiving treatment. At the time of the accident, Revankar worked as a Zonal Business Manager with La Renon Healthcare Pvt Ltd and earned ₹1.35 lakhs per month.

The tribunal accepted the salary records presented by his employer and ruled that he had resigned from his job due to his injuries, with no recovery sufficient to return to employment.

The insurer contested liability, asserting the accident was caused by the motorcycle rider and that the car driver lacked a valid license. However, the tribunal rejected these objections. The court noted that police filed a charge-sheet against the car driver, and the insurer did not produce evidence showing the driver lacked a valid license.

The court explained that the insurer's argument that Revankar was no longer earning a salary due to his resignation was dismissed, as he remained employed until his death. The decision was based on the direct result of the accident, his continuous bedridden state post-accident, and the fact that he had resigned from his position due to the injuries. The minor son's compensation will be deposited in a nationalized bank until he reaches majority.
