MP’s Dhar Students Wait 5 Months For Uniforms As ₹600 Assistance Remains Pending

Sardarpur, Madhya Pradesh: Five months into the 2026-27 academic term, students in several government schools in Dhar district are wearing regular clothes while awaiting their uniforms or financial assistance to buy them. Parents claim neither uniforms have been distributed nor has the intended Rs 600 for two pairs of uniforms been deposited in their bank accounts.

Concerned parents have approached schools to seek explanations for the delay. The government allocates Rs 600 annually for two pairs of uniforms for students in Classes 1 to 8 of government schools. Previously, uniforms were made through self-help groups linked to the Rural Livelihood Mission. However, for the past two years, the government has been transferring the Rs 600 directly to parents' bank accounts for purchasing the uniforms.

Parents expressed that the extended wait is causing worry among children, noting that unlike private school students who attend in uniforms, financially disadvantaged government school students are forced to wear regular clothes. According to government statistics, over one lakh students attend primary and secondary schools in Dhar district.

Parents and students are now eagerly waiting to find out if the government will provide ready-made uniforms or deposit the assistance into their bank accounts. Abhishek Yadav, the District Education Centre project coordinator, stated that no clear guidelines regarding the distribution of uniforms have been received from the government yet.

It remains unclear whether students will receive the uniforms ready-made or if the money will be deposited in their parents' bank accounts. Yadav added that the funds are likely to be transferred to parents' accounts.
