Misfits Boxing results: Henry Cejudo edges out split decision in pro debut

Henry Cejudo, the 39-year-old Olympic gold medalist and former UFC champion, made his professional boxing debut on Saturday night. The main event took place at the James L. Knight Center in Miami as part of the Misfits Boxing event. Cejudo faced off against 20-year-old Euphoria star Javon Walton. The bout consisted of four three-minute rounds which concluded in a split decision victory for Cejudo, with the judges scoring the fight 39-37 in his favor.

Walton's larger stature posed an initial challenge for Cejudo, but he quickly found his range by darting in and out, attempting to close the distance. In Round 2, both fighters demonstrated their strengths, with Cejudo landing more powerful punches that forced Walton to reassess his strategy. As the fight progressed, Walton countered effectively when he was pressed, but Cejudo maintained control throughout.

With only three minutes remaining, the intensity increased as both fighters sought to secure a decisive win. Despite the contentious scoring, Cejudo emerged victorious in his professional boxing debut. In his post-fight interview, Cejudo acknowledged that Round 1 did not go his way, but he adjusted his approach and ultimately claimed the victory. He also vowed to challenge Nurideen Shabazz, known as "Deen the Great," who was originally scheduled to face him.
