Michigan State extends offer to Archbishop Moeller defensive lineman

East Lansing, Michigan saw Michigan State football suffer a 31-13 loss to Nebraska at Spartan Stadium on Saturday, September 26. The Spartans were unable to overcome a series of mistakes and injuries. Their best offensive player, Cam Edwards, was sidelined with a knee injury, while their best defensive player, Jordan Hall, was out with a leg injury.

The team also lacked their top four cornerbacks during the game. The Spartans compounded their troubles with two fumbles, two interceptions, and multiple costly penalties. At times, they appeared capable, but ultimately, bad mistakes and unfortunate breaks proved too much to overcome. The Spartans' defense, already weakened by injuries to cornerback and linebacker Brady Pretzlaff, managed to hold Nebraska for a while, scoring a field goal on their first drive after the break.

However, they fumbled on their next drive and, when close to scoring, a catch by tight end Jayden Savoury was overturned by a challenging review. Quarterback Alessio Milivojevic also fumbled multiple times, leading to missed opportunities. With a quarterback under constant pressure and six Nebraska sacks, the Spartans failed to capitalize on a potential game-winning field goal attempt.

The loss left Michigan State on the road to face Wisconsin next Saturday, October 3, in Madison, Wisconsin, marking the first time they would face a team coached by Luke Fickell since he moved to Cincinnati after leaving Michigan State in 2020. The Badgers, who lost their opener to Notre Dame, entered the game ranked No. 14, while the Spartans had a 19-22 overall record and a 10-17 Big Ten record.
