Liverpool and Man Utd weigh up move for Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven

Liverpool and Manchester United are both closely monitoring Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven, with the 25-year-old Dutch defender seen as a strong potential addition to their defensive options. Van de Ven, who joined Spurs from Wolfsburg in 2023, has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League's fastest centre-backs, known for his speed, defensive positioning, and ability to cover large areas.

The interest in Van de Ven is particularly notable for Liverpool, as they currently look to address their own defender shortage following the age-related management changes affecting Virgil van Dijk. Van de Ven's left-footed playing style and Premier League experience make him an attractive long-term option for any club seeking a stable center-back.

Van de Ven has already played 96 times for Tottenham in all competitions, including 45 matches in the Premier League last season. Liverpool and Manchester United have yet to make any formal offers for the Dutchman, who recently signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham until 2031. The new deal reportedly replaces his previous contract set to expire in 2029.

Despite Tottenham strengthening their negotiating position in August, Van de Ven appears content at the club, describing Tottenham as his "home" and expressing confidence in manager Roberto De Zerbi's vision for the team.
