Legacy Motor Club re-signs Erik Jones to a multiyear deal for the No. 43 in the NASCAR Cup Series

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Erik Jones has committed to a multiyear deal to continue driving the No. 43 Toyota for Legacy Motor Club in the NASCAR Cup Series. The extension was announced just before Sunday's race at Kansas Speedway, with the deal's financial details remaining undisclosed. Jones, 30, joined the team in 2021, during its transition from Richard Petty Motorsports.

He went on to win the Southern 500 the following year while driving the car that pays homage to NASCAR legend "The King," Richard Petty. Jones, a former Truck Series champion, has accumulated 10 top-five finishes with the No. 43, including a second-place performance at Michigan earlier this season. "It's become a significant part of my career," Jones stated, acknowledging the team's consistent progress throughout the years.

"I'm grateful to be part of this success." The addition of Jones to the team bolsters Legacy Motor Club's stability. Earlier this month, the organization announced that John Hunter Nemechek would not return to the No. 42 for the upcoming season, and that Josh Berry would take his place. Riley Herbst is slated to drive the No. 84 car, which Jimmie Johnson has piloted in select races.
