(LEAD) (Asiad) S. Korea picks up silver, bronze in synchronized diving events

South Korea's synchronized diving teams claimed silver and bronze in the Asian Games held in Nagoya, Japan on September 27. The women's synchronized 3-meter springboard event saw Kim Su-ji and Kim Na-hyun secure silver, with a score of 254.70 points, trailing behind China's Chen Yiwen and Chen Jia who took the gold with 328.56 points.

Malaysia's Ker Ying Ong and Yiat Qing Lee earned the bronze with 243.72 points. This marked South Korea's best performance in this event since 2002. The women's synchronized 3-meter event was introduced to the Asian Games in 2002, during the inaugural year in Busan, South Korea. China has dominated the gold medals in this event since then.

In the men's synchronized 10m platform event, South Korea's Shin Jung-whi and Kim Yeong-taek claimed the bronze. Their score of 375.90 points trailed behind gold medalist Yang Hao and Lian Junjie of China with 465.54 points, and silver medalists Enrique Harold and Elvis Priestly Clement of Malaysia with 377.52 points. South Korea has now won four consecutive medals in this event. This is Yeong-nam Kim's third silver medal in this event, following his victory from 2014 to 2023.
