Kimito Nono’s first two MLS goals rally DC United to 3-3 draw with Whitecaps

On Saturday night, D.C. United battled to a 3-3 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first annual MLS season opener. Rookie midfielder Kimito Nono was instrumental in the contest, netting his first two goals of his career, including the equalizer in the 80th minute. The Vancouver keeper Yohei Takaoka faced a challenge from Nono in his eighth MLS appearance.

Vancouver took the lead in the 25th minute through Brian White, and Bruno Caicedo added a third goal for the Whitecaps with a goal and an assist from Thomas Müller in the 90+3rd minute. DC United responded with a goal from defender Lucas Bartlett in the 65th minute, marking his third career goal and a career-high. Vancouver extended their lead to 3-2 in the 72nd minute when Müller scored his eighth goal of the season, finishing off a 2-2-1 month.
