Kalonzo leads ‘Komboa Kenya’ grassroots drive in Siaya

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka made a visit to Bondo, Siaya County on Sunday to continue his Komboa Kenya grassroots campaign. During the visit, Kalonzo addressed the need for a united opposition and cautioned against exploiting the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s legacy.

Kalonzo attended a service at St Michael and All Angels ACK Cathedral alongside DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa. The two leaders reflected on their long-standing political association with Raila Odinga, and spoke about the future of the opposition before the 2027 General Election.

Kalonzo emphasized the importance of a functional official opposition that is united and does not rely on disunity. He stated that as leaders, they have a responsibility to work together and contribute to the betterment of the nation. Despite other leaders joining government, Kalonzo and Wamalwa remained steadfast in their opposition stance.

Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, who also attended the event, urged residents of Nyanza to accept Kalonzo as one of their own, highlighting his political partnership with Raila. Kalonzo emphasized that although Raila may be gone, his spirit of liberation, commitment to the rule of law, and justice will endure.

Kalonzo cautioned against attempts to misuse Raila's name and burial site for political purposes. He also expressed concern over the alleged abduction of human rights defenders Collins Otiendo and Mulinge, linking these cases to broader issues surrounding activist treatment. On Parliament, Kalonzo lamented the capture of the National Assembly, urging MPs and senators to use their positions to protect Kenyan interests.

As he continued his Komboa Kenya tour, Kalonzo introduced the Ukombozi Alliance, the rebranded Azimio coalition, as part of the opposition's strategy to organize ahead of the 2027 election. The alliance was officially launched earlier this month with Kalonzo among its leaders. He challenged supporters to safeguard their votes in the upcoming election, asserting that both William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta would eventually unite with him.
