Jonathan, Fubara task Rivers monarchs on selfless leadership

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have urged traditional rulers in the state to lead purposefully and selflessly, serving as custodians of their communities' traditions and heritage. The two leaders spoke at the coronation of King Charles Douglas MacPepple Jaja of Opobo Kingdom in Rivers State.

Jonathan congratulated the new king and assured him of his support, recalling the historical significance of the throne, particularly its first occupant, King Jaja. Fubara emphasized the preservation and passing on of traditions to future generations. The governor recognized the role traditional rulers play in preserving cultural values and promoting unity, encouraging further partnership between the throne and the government.

King Jaja pledged to uphold the sovereignty, dignity, and progress of Opobo, promising a future marked by development and unity. Other dignitaries present included the Olu of Warri, the Obi of Onitsha, and the King of Bonny Kingdom.
