Iran Guards say they seized US underwater drone in Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed on Sunday that they had seized an American submarine drone in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. According to a statement from the IRGC naval forces, the operation involved intelligence and electronic warfare, resulting in the capture of an advanced unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) belonging to the US military.

The Guards stated that the drone was operating in the Strait for espionage purposes, identifying it as a Remus 600 autonomous underwater vehicle, which is now in the possession of the force's specialists for data recovery. Earlier this month, the Guards reported capturing another US submarine drone in the strait, which was crucial for oil and gas trade prior to the Middle East war that began in late February, disrupting shipping activities.

Iran has maintained a blockade of the Hormuz Strait since the conflict's outbreak, while the US has imposed a counter-blockade on Iranian ports.
