Info ministry rejects Afghan Taliban's 'frivolous' claims linking Pakistan to alleged Nuristan clashes

Afghanistan's Information Ministry has dismissed the Taliban's claims alleging Pakistani forces' involvement in recent internal clashes in the country's Nuristan province as "frivolous, baseless and devoid of any truth." The ministry's fact-check account on social media platform X stated that Pakistan categorically rejects any fabricated claims of its security forces or intelligence agencies being involved in such incidents.

According to the ministry, "not a shred of evidence has been produced to substantiate Pakistan's involvement; no identities, documents, communications, forensic evidence or independent verification." They further noted that an alleged video being circulated online to support these false claims only shows unarmed individuals who are not properly dressed or equipped, suggesting it was a pre-planned video shoot by the Taliban regime.

The ministry emphasized that Pakistan should take credible and verifiable action against terrorist organizations operating from its territory instead of externalizing responsibility for its internal security challenges. The ministry highlighted that the presence and activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan are well documented, with multiple reports from the United Nations and other neutral international organizations confirming this.

The ministry pointed out that the Taliban's accusations of Pakistan supporting terrorism while terrorist organizations operate from Afghan soil pose a direct threat to Pakistan and regional security are particularly ironic. The ministry further stated that the Taliban's claims are reflective of lies to externalize internal dissent and oppression of women, children, and minorities within their regime.
