Indonesian actress Caitlin Halderman hopes ‘The Hidden Hand’ marks start of her acting journey in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — Indonesian actress Caitlin Halderman is eagerly anticipating that her role in the horror drama series 'The Hidden Hand' will be the beginning of her acting journey in Malaysia. At 26 years old, Halderman recently spent over a month in Malaysia, filming the series where she plays the character Riska. She expressed her delight at being immersed in the local culture, which made her feel at home and inspired her to return for future projects.

Despite some language challenges, the openness and camaraderie of the cast, including English-language Malay-speaking actors Meerqeen, Hannah Delisha and Datin Seri Umie Aida, made Halderman feel comfortable. The 12-episode drama, which premiered on Sept 18 on the Viu video streaming platform, stars Halderman alongside her co-stars.

Halderman revealed that the possession scenes were the most challenging aspects for her, requiring intense physical effort and emotional depth. She credited her background as a former water polo athlete for providing the discipline, patience, and stamina necessary for her acting career. Halderman's foray into acting was not planned; she initially auditioned for a brand commercial and was subsequently cast in a film.

She confessed that her acting career seemed like a pleasant surprise, adding that her Indonesian heritage and Dutch-Minangkabau roots contribute to her unique appeal in the Malaysian entertainment industry.
