‘How can body be cremated with belongings?’: Court slams Gurugram Police in realtor murder

A Delhi court on Saturday criticized the Gurugram Police for cremating the body of real estate professional Yuvraj Singh Manchanda with his belongings without adhering to proper legal procedures. Judicial Magistrate Rahul Jain questioned the police regarding this matter during an application hearing by Yuvraj's sister. The court expressed concern over the mishandling of the body and the neglect of mandatory legal protocols.

Manchanda was allegedly killed by his former colleague and her partner on September 6 and thrown into a drain. The body was initially identified as unidentified and cremated on September 14. The court raised questions about the lack of communication with the nearest executive magistrate for inquest proceedings and the discrepancy between two post-mortem reports. The family's right to perform last rites was also compromised due to these lapses.
