Hornets’ Kon Knueppel, Grant Williams to miss preseason due to hamstring injuries

The Charlotte Hornets have informed that rookie guard Kon Knueppel and forward Grant Williams will be sidelined for all preseason games due to hamstring injuries sustained during offseason workouts. Knueppel, selected by Charlotte with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, suffered a left hamstring injury, while Williams, a native of Charlotte and originally drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2019, suffered a right hamstring injury.

Both players are set to undergo medical re-evaluations at the start of the NBA regular season. Knueppel, who played 81 games and started 80 during his rookie year, averaged 18.5 points. Williams, acquired from the Mavericks in 2024, played no games in the 2023 preseason. The Hornets have stated that further updates on their condition will be shared after the re-evaluations during the opening week of the regular season. Training camp for the Hornets is scheduled to commence on September 29 and conclude on October 2.
