He was probing high-profile scam. Now, a Rs 2 crore bribe lands senior cop in police net

Senior officer Mukesh Kumar Soni of Rajasthan's Special Operations Group (SOG) has been arrested for allegedly seeking a Rs 2 crore bribe from a man to clear his name in a multi-crore land scam case. Soni, known as the "pride of Rajasthan police," was involved in exposing major drug syndicates and other major crimes. The accused man, Sajjan Singh Jain alias Tatla, was caught accepting the bribe while meeting Soni in a car.

Upon verification, Soni demanded the bribe in exchange for closing the case, not making the person an accused in other cases, and returning confiscated documents. The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has lodged a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal conspiracy.
