Govt. to build ‘Karnataka Mantapa’ modeled after ‘Bharat Mandapam’: CM Shivakumar

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced plans to build a 'Karnataka Mantapa', a new government facility modeled after Delhi's 'Bharat Mandapam', near a metro station in the state. The announcement came after the inauguration of the first Karnataka Tourism Awards ceremony, held at Palace Grounds to commemorate World Tourism Day.

The event, organized by the Department of Tourism and Karnataka Tourism Society, recognized and honored various stakeholders in the tourism sector with 35 different categories such as best business hotel, eco-friendly resort, and tourism startup. K.J. George, Minister for Energy and Tourism, emphasized the importance of leveraging Artificial Intelligence in the tourism industry to create personalized itineraries, provide multilingual information, and connect visitors with recognized service providers.

He also stated that the Tourism Department is actively developing technology-driven solutions to benefit not only large companies but also small entrepreneurs, homestay owners, tourist guides, and artisans.
