GNFS calls for more fire hydrants at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the National Ambulance Service, has organized an emergency simulation exercise at the Wa Regional Hospital. The aim was to evaluate their preparedness for mass-casualty incidents. This exercise, carried out by the Wa Municipal Fire Station, aimed to test how effectively the agencies could collaborate during a major road traffic accident.

The simulation focused on a head-on collision involving numerous casualties. During the drill, the participating agencies evaluated their response protocols, communication systems, and resource coordination for managing multiple victims. The exercise allowed the emergency services to assess their preparedness and pinpoint areas needing improvement for real-life mass-casualty situations.

GNFS emphasized that the activity highlighted the importance of effective communication, teamwork, and strong collaboration among emergency response agencies. The exercise was part of their efforts to enhance inter-agency coordination and boost the capacity of emergency responders in managing road traffic incidents with many casualties.
