Gallant reveals: Hamas warned Shin Bet weeks before October 7

Former defense minister Yoav Gallant disclosed that Israel had received a Hamas message through a Shin Bet channel, in which Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar threatened to "shake the prisons." Gallant made these revelations to Army Radio on Sunday. Moreover, Gallant accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of excluding senior security officials, including himself, from crucial discussions with US officials regarding sensitive matters like hostages and ammunition during the October 7, 2023, massacre.

Gallant expressed skepticism about Netanyahu's trustworthiness, stating, "Their trust in the prime minister was low." These allegations come as new disclosures emerged about Sinwar's purported warnings to Israel in the weeks leading up to the attack.

Gallant's statements further fuel public skepticism over Netanyahu's relationship with Israel's security leadership during the conflict. In a recent move, the Prime Minister's Office released Netanyahu's schedule for the morning of October 7, amidst ongoing debates about the communication between the prime minister and security officials during the Hamas assault.

Gallant also addressed claims that Netanyahu had received warnings from foreign leaders prior to the Hamas attack, asserting that he was unaware of such warnings while serving as defense minister. He emphasized, "Assuming these things are true, such a warning that a prime minister receives from the leader of a country is not a political asset; it is a fundamental failure in the overall assessment of the situation."
