G20 foreign ministers discuss accelerating collective action to defeat Ebola

On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Deputy Minister for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Nouf Alnumair, took part in the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting aimed at expediting collaborative efforts to combat the Ebola virus. The gathering, held off the main proceedings of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, gathered representatives from G20 nations, invited countries, and international organizations, as well as senior officials from the affected nations.

The primary focus of the meeting was to enhance international coordination, quicken joint actions to curb the Ebola epidemic, bolster the response in the affected countries, and bolster health capacities to curb transmission and thwart cross-border spread. Discussions underscored the necessity of aligning global responses to tackle cross-border health crises, bolster cooperation among governments, international bodies, and health entities, and hasten aid to the impacted areas, encompassing surveillance, diagnosis, field interventions, and capacity enhancement, while bolstering regional and global health preparedness.
