Florida would appear on CFP bracket and host a first-round game based on AP Top 25; 6 SEC teams in

Florida has secured a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket based on The Associated Press Top 25 rankings released on Sunday. This marks the Gators' first appearance in the playoff. Their first-round game will be hosted at home, thanks to the team's impressive climb up to No. 8 in the poll. The Southeastern Conference will have six teams participating in the CFP tournament.

In the bracket, the top four seeds will be Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Miami, while Ohio State, Indiana, Alabama, and Florida will host first-round games. The other seven spots will be filled by the next highest-ranked teams, with one at-large team being Notre Dame if they are within the top 12 in the final rankings. The Big Ten would have two teams, while the Big 12, Atlantic Coast Conference, and Pac-12 would each have one team in the field.

Notre Dame will participate as an independent, and Boise State will represent the Pac-12 as the top Group of Six champion. The CFP bracket would open with Mississippi hosting Florida (No. 9 vs. No. 8) and the winner facing Texas in the first round. Boise State would face Ohio State (No. 12 vs. No. 4), and the winner would go against Miami.

BYU would square off against Alabama (No. 10 vs. No. 7), and the victor would take on Georgia. LSU would meet Indiana (No. 11 vs. No. 6) and then face the winner of Notre Dame's first-round game. Outside teams include Texas Tech, Utah, and Iowa, with Texas Tech falling to No. 12 by the AP rankings. The first-round games are scheduled for December 18 and 19, while the quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship game will take place on December 30, January 1, and January 25, respectively, in Las Vegas.

The AP will release brackets based on the weekly Top 25 rankings until the CFP selection committee releases its initial rankings on November 3.
