Enrique Riquelme: "Cox va a triplicar la inversión en el nuevo plan hasta los 10.000 millones"

Enrique Riquelme, founder of Cox, plans to triple investment in the new plan to reach 10 billion dollars. Born in the Spanish town of Cox, he is currently in Madrid preparing for a trip to New York, where the United Nations Assembly took place. This interview is his first since competing against Florentino Pérez for the presidency of Real Madrid in June.

Cox announced a new issuance of bonds, the closure of its purchase of Iberdrola Mexico, and changes in its board, as well as rumors of relocating its headquarters to Panama. However, the group's headquarters remains in Spain, in Sevilla, where Abengoa was acquired. A financial and operational office has been established in Madrid, and additional offices in Panama, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh manage investments in Latin America and Africa.

Cox completed the purchase of Iberdrola Mexico assets for $4 billion, transforming its structure. The company is reconfiguring its structure, with EPC and Services as a transversal area, and geographical areas for Mexico, Brazil, the Southern Cone, the Andean region, Central America, the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe.

Within this new structure, Cox has plans to invest over $4 billion in Mexico alone over the next five years, along with another $4 billion in the rest of Latin America. The company already has sufficient liquidity and has already reduced its debt by 2.5 years, allowing it to consider opening capital to new investors in Mexico.
