Eight terrorists killed in Dera Bugti clash, police claim

Quetta/Khuwizar: In clashes between government-backed tribal forces and suspected terrorists in Dera Bugti district, at least eight militants were killed on Saturday, according to police. A Bugti Peace Force officer was killed and three others sustained injuries during the exchange of fire. Separately, a tribal leader was assassinated in Khuzdar, and an attack was reported on the home of a National Party leader in the same region.

Police stated that following the skirmish, they apprehended seven suspects linked to a banned group. Armed men attacked the district council chairman's residence and a gas company facility in Loti with heavy weaponry early Saturday. The Bugti Peace Force responded with counter-fire, using rockets and other heavy weapons, resulting in casualties on both sides.

Some attackers fled, but returned later and resumed the assault on the district council chairman's home. The bodies of the slain attackers were transferred to Loti Hospital. A police official disclosed that Fazal Khan, a Bugti Peace Force member, was among the fatalities, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Three other peace force members were also injured and transported to a hospital.

Ongoing investigations were ordered into the incidents, with no group yet claiming responsibility. The National Party condemned the attack on Sardar Bizenjo's residence and called for a thorough, unbiased inquiry.
