The climber finished third at the Meru climb, just nine kilometres into Sunday’s stage, earning him one KOM point.

The crash cost Iqmal about 30 seconds in the incident. Syawal expressed regret over losing such an important team player and hinted at reviewing their strategy for Stage 2.
MPC principal Sayuti Zahit confirmed that Iqmal suffered only minor injuries and should be able to start the upcoming stage.
