Don Mueang Airport open despite flooding

Don Mueang Airport resumed normal operations despite ongoing flooding in the surrounding area, according to a statement from Airports of Thailand (AOT) on September 26. The airport's flights and internal routes were not impacted by the heavy rain and standing water. However, some road routes leading to the airport may be affected.

Passengers are advised to utilize the elevated Don Mueang Tollway, which provides direct access to the passenger terminal buildings. While Mass Transit Authority buses on routes A1 to A4 continue to operate, they are experiencing delays of approximately 45 minutes. Passengers are now required to pick up and drop off at points within the Service Hall building.

The Red Line commuter train, connecting Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal to Rangsit, remains operational every 15 minutes. Metered taxis have been suspended due to the flooding and vehicle breakdowns, but ride-hailing service Grab remains available. AOT is urging passengers to allocate additional travel time, suggesting a three-hour lead time for international flights and a two-hour buffer for domestic flights.

Airport staff are working around the clock to support travelers during this disruption. Heavy rainfall is expected to persist nationwide as Bangkok grapples with severe flooding, with all 50 districts now designated as flood disaster zones.
