Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen injures pitching shoulder warming up in bullpen, season is over

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen suffered a season-ending injury to his pitching shoulder while performing bullpen warm-ups following a 4-3 victory against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed the severity of the injury after Treinen experienced discomfort during a pitch and displayed a visibly painful reaction.

Treinen is set to undergo imaging and will be placed on the injured list, which means the Dodgers will need to acquire a replacement player for their upcoming regular-season finale on Sunday and the subsequent playoffs. The 38-year-old right-hander, who returned from the injured list on September 2 following elbow inflammation since June 20 and missed the 2023 season due to shoulder surgery, had a 4-1 record with a 3.64 ERA and 31 strikeouts across 36 appearances and 29 2/3 innings in his sixth year with Los Angeles and 12th overall in the majors.
