Do Korea’s conservative frontrunners have what it takes to become president in 2030?

Korea's conservatives have shown resilience following President Lee Jae Myung's recent decline in popularity. The People Power Party (PPP) leader Jang Dong-hyuk has particularly benefited from the drop in Lee's approval ratings, making strong and aggressive statements against the current administration. Jang believes the reshuffle is a ploy to cancel charges against Lee and establish a leftist dictatorship.

He has refused to resign despite calls from the majority of his lawmakers, predicting his term will end in August next year. Another PPP independent lawmaker, Han Dong-hoon, has also capitalized on the president's waning support by winning a by-election in Busan's Buk-A district.
