Despite curfew, terrorists attack several Plateau communities, kill 11

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang imposed a curfew on Mangu, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos local government areas, yet terrorists and bandits continued their attacks. Over two days, at least 11 people were killed and more than 20 hectares of farmland destroyed. Homes, churches, businesses and food storage facilities were also set ablaze.

In Mangu, four individuals were killed in coordinated assaults in Kikyau, Panyam and Kasuwan Ali; over 50 cows were stolen. Another attack hit Kworos Gangare in Barkin Ladi, claiming the lives of two miners named Phillip Luka and Sunday John. Simultaneous attacks in Jol, Riyom, Exland, Gashish, Rapwomol and Dorowa Babuje communities left three people dead and caused widespread destruction.

A protest ensued, with women blocking the Jos-Barkin Ladi-Mangu road. On Saturday, Kantoma village was attacked by heavily armed terrorists believed to be Fulani militias, resulting in the deaths of three more individuals and destruction of property. Residents have questioned the efficacy of the curfew, expressing doubt in the ability of security agencies to enforce it amidst the ongoing violence.
