Concordia residents welcome alternative leadership to Knysna Council

Residents of Concordia, a town in Knysna, Western Cape, are optimistic about the prospect of alternative leadership to their current council. They expressed their hope for positive changes during a door-to-door campaign conducted by the South African Communist Party (SACP) with General Secretary Solly Mapaila. Mapaila revealed that they have a plan to transform Knysna, currently under a structured section 154 intergovernmental support initiated by the national government to tackle infrastructure, water, sanitation, and governance issues.

Thandile Mqeke, who will turn 18 in the coming month, expressed her enthusiasm about casting her vote with the intention of making a difference. She emphasized her desire to see a reduction in crime rates within the community, which she noted is plagued by high crime rates. Mqeke also hoped that the new leadership would focus on creating more job opportunities for the town's unemployed residents.

She acknowledged the high unemployment rate in the area and expressed her hope that the upcoming municipal leadership would address this pressing issue. Additionally, Mqeke stressed the importance of fixing the town's roads, highlighting it as another key concern for the community.
