Bersama sasar tingkat undi, bukan menang PRN Melaka

Wong Chen, one of Bersama's leading figures along with Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, revealed that the party does not anticipate victory in the upcoming Melaka state election (PRN Melaka). They acknowledged that Melaka is a strong stronghold for Umno. However, the former Subang MP emphasized that Bersama's goal is to achieve a significant improvement in every election, having only been active for five months.

They drew parallels with their experience in Johor, where they managed to secure 12% of the votes. Wong Chen shared that if they had secured 12% in Johor, they might be able to achieve 12% in Melaka this time around, as long as they continue to improve. He added that the key is to keep progressing with each election. In May, Bersama announced 15 candidates for the PRN Melaka, including Dr. Solehin Saleh, the son of former PKR Deputy President and former Subang Adun, Dr. Akmal Saleh.

Wong, a former PKR leader, stated that Bersama might not participate in the PRN Sarawak and instead focus on other state elections that may be held before the 2016 general election (PRU16). He noted that Bersama has a stronger presence in urban areas, particularly in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, compared to Johor and Melaka. Wong suggested that Johor Bahru, Pulau Pinang, and Ipoh, where their voters are more progressive, middle-class, and diverse, could be more favorable for Bersama.

He reiterated that Bersama aims to win 10 parliamentary seats in PRU16, which they consider a realistic target. Wong mentioned that Bersama has been joined by former members of PKR, Umno, and PAS since its formation in May. He expressed confidence that with a simple, progressive platform, leadership from good Malay gentlemen, and an inclusive approach that caters to the middle class and urban dwellers, they can make significant strides.
