Arkansas State scores final 10 points, holds off Kennesaw State for 17-14 win

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Trey Owens contributed to Arkansas State's 17-14 victory over Kennesaw State on Saturday night. The Red Wolves scored the last 10 points to secure their win.

Owens, who threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score, helped his team tie the game 14-all late in the third quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run. This drive spanned 76 yards.

Clune Van Andel sealed the game with a 33-yard field goal as time expired. Kennesaw State's Rickie Collins led his team on a 10-play, 46-yard drive but missed a crucial 32-yard field goal attempt with about three minutes remaining.

Solomon Baggett sealed the win with a 12-yard run on third-and-6 with 1:52 left. He finished the game with 63 yards rushing on 13 carries.

Owens connected with Hunter Summers for a 14-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. He completed 24 of 31 passes for 244 yards during the game for Arkansas State.

Boogie Woods II scored on an 8-yard run for Kennesaw State just before halftime, tying the game at 7-all. Woods added 101 rushing yards on 19 carries. His 6-yard touchdown run extended the Owls' lead to 14-7 with 4:24 left in the third quarter.

Rickie Collins completed 17 of 24 passes for 129 yards and 52 yards on the ground for Kennesaw State. The Owls will host Jacksonville State on October 7, while Arkansas State travels to play Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday.
