Adamawa: Teacher arrested over alleged rape of 10-year-old girl

In Adamawa, a 54-year-old primary school teacher named Garba Suleiman has been apprehended for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl. This development was announced by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, during a public demonstration of the suspect. Nguroje revealed that the arrest came about following a complaint lodged by the victim's family at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola South Local Government Area (LGA).

According to Nguroje, police officers moved swiftly to arrest the suspect, stating that an initial investigation indicated the teacher had lured the minor and engaged in unlawful sexual activity with her. The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital for a medical examination. Nguroje further informed that Police Commissioner Kabir Umar Hassan has instructed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola for a thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.

The Commissioner has strongly condemned all forms of Gender-Based Violence and assured the public that justice will be served. He also appealed to parents and guardians to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police.
