$5,000 gift in 1999 turned China desert into 50,000-tree forest
Pennsylvania teacher Ronald Sakolsky reunited with Chinese farmer Yin Yuzhen 26 years after donating $5,000 to support her tree-planting efforts in Inner Mongolia. His contribution helped Yin expand her work in the Maowusu Desert, which has since become a forest of around 50,000 trees, turning their friendship into an enduring environmental story.
