2027: Zulum Declares Borno APC Territory

On his return to Maiduguri from Canada and the United States following a Pan-African top leadership award, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State called for unity among political contestants after their loss in the party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. Zulum addressed a massive gathering of supporters, including party executives, federal and state lawmakers, top government officials, at the airport.

He urged the aspirants to forgive past wrongdoings and view their electoral defeat as God's will, emphasizing that the selection of leaders was solely in God's hands. In his seven years of administration, Zulum claimed that his government had functioned with integrity and fairness, even if they could not achieve all expectations.

He assured those who held grudges about the shortcomings that the incoming governor, Mustapha Gubio, would fulfill the remaining tasks. Zulum positioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the dominant political force in Borno and urged party loyalists to vote massively in all elections, from the presidency to the 27 state assembly seats.

He highlighted that Borno's Vice Presidential position, currently held by a local, could secure more federal projects. Zulum stressed the importance of total party loyalty but warned that dissenters would not benefit from the incoming administration. He also assured women and youth groups that more empowerment programs would be introduced within the week.
