Xi, Trump stress importance of respect and fairness, says China

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reported that US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed boosting cooperation in key sectors during their meeting. Both leaders stressed the importance of respect, fairness, and equality in their relationship. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the two presidents agreed on the need for Iran to refrain from developing nuclear weapons and on the principle that no entity should charge for using international waterways.

They also reached a consensus that China and the United States should build a stable and constructive strategic relationship based on respect, fairness, and equality. The eight-point understanding, reached during Xi's visit to the United States, also exempted certain essential goods from trade disputes, including agricultural products and medical devices, as well as imports of consumer and non-sensitive goods.
