Vvaan box office: Sidharth Malhotra’s latest opens better than his last 10 films, earns Rs 9.6 cr

Sidharth Malhotra's latest film, The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest, made its debut in Indian theatres on September 25, 2022. The movie, based on Indian folklore and blending supernatural fantasy, mythology, action, and thriller elements, was directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, making it his feature film debut. The film opened to a gross collection of Rs 9.6 crore in India, with a net collection of Rs 8 crore across 6,746 shows and an occupancy rate of 26%.

Despite mediocre reviews and mediocre word of mouth, the film's opening was more promising compared to other films released this month, including Daayra and Vibe. Vvaan, co-starring Tamannaah Bhatia, marks her first Hindi theatrical release in a lead role in seven years. The film's performance is a crucial test for both Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah, as they have been searching for theatrical hits since 2016 and 2014, respectively.

The only major film to release alongside Vvaan was Avengers: Endgame - Encore, a re-release of the 2019 blockbuster, which earned Rs 8.68 crore gross across all languages. While Vvaan has shown a jump in collections over the weekend, the film remains to be seen whether it can sustain its momentum and become Sidharth Malhotra's first theatrical success in nearly a decade.
