Virat Kohli says 2027 World Cup will be his last for India

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli revealed that the 2027 World Cup will be his final appearance for the national team. The 37-year-old, who has scored 14,941 runs in One-day Internationals, is set to retire from T20 Internationals and Test cricket, having already made his farewell appearances in those formats. The 2027 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, marks Kohli's fifth ODI World Cup.

Kohli told JioStar that the intensity of the 50-over format is greater than anything else, with the tournament comprising 10 games at a Twenty20 level of intensity spread over a single day. Despite the challenges, he is fully prepared to give his all to win the trophy, stating, "Whatever it takes, I'm absolutely ready."

Former captain Rohit Sharma echoed Kohli's sentiments, expressing his continued motivation to participate in another World Cup campaign. "The thought will never cross my mind that the business I had is finished," Rohit said. "As long as you're playing, there is always something to look forward to. And I'm looking forward to the World Cup."

Both Kohli and Rohit were recently named in India's squad for a three-match ODI series against West Indies, with the opening match set to be played in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
