Tourist kidnapped in Mallorca after being mistaken for someone else

A tourist visiting Mallorca to see a friend was kidnapped, beaten, and thrown from a moving van after attackers mistook him for someone else. The incident occurred in Palma on Tuesday, September 22. Police later discovered that the visitor had become entangled in a dispute involving his friend. Two of the three men arrested have been remanded in prison, while the third has been released.

The victim, who had come to Mallorca specifically to visit his friend, was found tied up on the s’Aranjassa road in Palma. The attackers threatened to do the same to his friend, who normally lived at the property. Police identified a man who worked at the property as one of the suspects and arrested him along with two others. The investigation revealed that the property owner may have hired the suspects to remove the property's usual occupant or resolve an economic dispute.

The attack was likely intended as a warning to the man the attackers had originally wanted to target. All three suspects face charges of unlawful detention, injuries, and threats.
