TikTok setuju bayar USD116 juta selesai saman di Alabama

Alabama has reached a settlement with TikTok, agreeing to pay $116 million to end a lawsuit filed in April 2025. The case alleged that the platform exposes children to harmful content related to drugs, self-harm, and eating disorders. TikTok has denied any wrongdoing. As part of the agreement, the company must restrict teenage users' access between midnight and 6am and set a daily usage limit of 2 hours.

TikTok also needs to provide a tool for parents to monitor and limit their children's app usage. The platform will not admit to any misconduct. The lawsuit claimed that TikTok's algorithm exposes young users to harmful content and encourages excessive use to support its advertising model. Earlier this year, TikTok had requested that the lawsuit be dismissed, arguing that the platform is protected by constitutional privacy rights and raising concerns about data privacy.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall described the settlement as a good day for families, as TikTok now needs to give parents greater control over their children's app usage. TikTok stated that the decision aligns with the company's commitment to continually strengthen safety features to protect young users.
