Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer plans to wait until offseason to decide on future

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, announced on Saturday that he plans to make a decision about his future during the offseason. The 42-year-old, who is currently 3-9 with a 6.14 ERA in 17 starts this season, has expressed his intention to play a potential 20th major league season in 2027.

Scherzer's career record stands at 224-126 in 500 games, including 491 starts. He has been with the Blue Jays since February 2022, signing a $3 million, one-year contract in February. Scherzer will start the season finale against Cincinnati on Sunday, which could be his final appearance of the year.
