Thane PSI killed after man fleeing police vehicle attacks him with cement brick; accused held

A police sub-inspector was killed in Thane after a man he was chasing attacked him with a cement brick, police reported. The assailant, identified as Raju Premkumar Valmiki, 30, was later arrested by another police team. The incident occurred around 11 pm on September 24 near Pokhran Road No. 2, where the victim, PSI Kisan Kamlakar Bhoir, was patrolling with other personnel as part of security arrangements for the Ganpati festival.

Valmiki, a resident of Gandhinagar, has a history of theft cases. The patrol team noticed a commotion near a paan stall and apprehended Valmiki, but he began arguing and abusing Bhoir before pushing him and jumping out of the vehicle. Bhoir chased Valmiki, who allegedly struck him with a nearby cement brick before fleeing. Bhoir was taken to Titan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from severe head injury and internal bleeding.

Police have registered a murder case against Valmiki under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
