Skip The Queue: Indore Railway Station Gets ATVMs For Unreserved Tickets With UPI Payment

The railway network has introduced a new facility at Indore railway station to purchase unreserved tickets through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) for passengers. This eliminates the need for long queues, enabling passengers to independently purchase tickets using the machines. The ATVMs are equipped with a QR code-based digital payment system, allowing passengers to complete transactions via any UPI-enabled application after scanning the displayed QR code.

Mukesh Kumar, the PRO of Ratlam Division, highlighted that facilitators have been deployed to assist passengers with any difficulties they may face while using the machines or in understanding their operation. As of now, two ATVMs have been installed at Indore, Ujjain, and Chittorgarh railway stations, with facilitators on hand to help passengers familiarize themselves with the machines.

The primary goal of this system is to provide a swift, straightforward, and convenient ticketing option for passengers. With the support of facilitators, individuals can avail of tickets without the inconvenience of standing in lengthy queues. Moreover, the introduction of ATVMs is also creating employment opportunities, as previously, only retired railway employees were planned to be appointed as facilitators.

However, the policy has since undergone an amendment, allowing for other candidates to be engaged in this role based on their qualifications.
