During a press conference, the Collector announced that the state would invest ₹40,000 crore over the next three to four years, with the remaining ₹60,000 crore anticipated through private sector investments. The region's favorable climatic conditions make it an ideal location for horticulture crops.
In the first phase of the project, cultivation will be expanded to cover 72,789 hectares across 12 clusters, with an additional 78,082 hectares expected to be under micro-irrigation by the end of the year. This initiative aims to ensure a 100% yield with 30% water usage. The Collector highlighted the promotion of drip systems, polyhouses, sprinklers, drones, and boom sprayers, along with inter-cropping and controlled environment cultivation. Post-harvest management and marketing will also be prioritized.
To raise awareness about the project, awareness programmes such as plantation drives and the Horticulture Technology Challenge quiz will be conducted from September 28 to 30. Farm ponds with up to a ₹1 lakh subsidy, and weed mats will also be promoted. The Collector mentioned that the grand launch event on October 2 will be live-streamed across all Regional Science Centers (RSKs) and mandal headquarters.
