Qatar Chamber participates in Global Halal Summit, discusses trade ties with Malaysia

The Qatar Chamber (QC) participated in the Global Halal Summit (GHaS) 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, focusing on strengthening trade and investment ties with Malaysia. The delegation, led by Dr. Mohamed bin Jawhar Al Mohammed and Ambassador Salah bin Mohamed Al Sorour, met with their Malaysian counterparts to discuss bilateral relations and ways to bolster cooperation.

During these meetings, both sides agreed to hold regular discussions, explore opportunities for collaboration, promote trade and investment, and facilitate partnerships. They emphasized the importance of giving the Qatar-Malaysia Joint Business Council a more active role in connecting businesspeople and companies, fostering joint ventures, and organizing events.

Dr. Al Mohammed reiterated Qatar Chamber's commitment to enhancing the Council's role as a platform for private-sector cooperation. He highlighted promising opportunities and stressed the significance of intensifying reciprocal visits and business meetings to forge new partnerships.

Dr. Al Mohammed also met with S. Jay Shankar, Deputy CEO of MATRADE, discussing trade and investment cooperation, private-sector engagement, and potential new opportunities for both countries. He further met with Malaysian business leaders, especially those in the food industry, showcasing Qatar's investment opportunities and inviting them to invest in the country.

Dr. Al Mohammed underlined the robust economic and trade relations between Qatar and Malaysia, pointing out the immense potential for boosting private-sector cooperation, particularly in food industries, halal products, logistics, technology, and investment.
