Punjab Orders Halt to Sale of Two Dexamethasone Injection Batches

The Punjab Directorate of Drugs Control has issued an alert halting the sale and use of two batches of a dexamethasone injection, Injection Davdax 1mL. Inspectors discovered that the products were released into the supply chain before completing necessary quality-control testing, violating good manufacturing practices. The affected batches, DDI132 and DDI133, contain Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate 4mg/mL and were registered under Reg.

No. 121545. Authorities are treating this as a precautionary measure until testing and investigation are complete, as the quality, safety and efficacy of the batches cannot be guaranteed. Retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and healthcare facilities holding the batches must immediately cease sale, supply, dispensing, distribution, and use.

Existing stocks should be quarantined and reported to the relevant drug inspector. Healthcare providers are advised to monitor patients who may have received the affected batches for any adverse reactions and report them via the pharmacovigilance system. Patients who have received the batches and have concerns should contact their healthcare provider.
