The vehicle starred in a chase scene involving a group of young people as they fled from a mysterious man. The 58-second video was released by Apple on September 23 as part of its #ShotoniPhone18Pro campaign to highlight the smartphone's camera abilities.

The standout moment was the continuous shot, capturing the entire sequence without cuts, including the actors speeding towards the Proton Iswara before driving off. Malaysian social media users quickly noticed the car, sparking reactions like "I saw Proton Saga there" and "Proud to be a Malaysian." The video was directed by British cinematographer Matt Lewis, who employed a one-shot filming technique for the chase sequence, leveraging the iPhone 18 Pro's camera features to achieve focus transitions during the movement.

The Proton Iswara, initially released in 1992, was an updated version of the Saga Megavalve and was previously exported to the United Kingdom, where it was known as the Proton Mpi.
